Cayman Islands Elections: First Findings

The first findings from the CPA BIMR Election Observation Mission to the Cayman Islands has been published.

The Preliminary Statement is out just two days after elections took place on  Wednesday (30th April).

The report describes how polling was calm and peaceful, and the election process was well organised. It notes that polling stations were well prepared, staff were trained and knowledgeable, and returning and presiding officers showed excellent leadership when problems arose.

There was universal praise for the work of the Election Office and the professionalism and dedication of the officials, led by the Supervisor of Elections.   

Election Observers found that the inclusion of people with disabilities was exemplary. 

The election campaign was vibrant, competitive and peaceful according to Observers.
