A series of workshops on modern slavery, which brought together around 70 parliamentarians from 13 countries, has seen a significant increase in understanding and a greater commitment to combating human trafficking and exploitation from legislators.

The annual Westminster Seminar is CPA UK’s flagship capacity-building programme for first-term parliamentarians and newly appointed procedural/committee Clerks from across the Commonwealth. Every year the five-day programme provides a unique platform for participants to network and engage with counterparts; exploring differing approaches to parliamentary democracy, practice and procedure in the context of the Westminster System and comparative Commonwealth parliamentary structures. This year CPA UK will host the 2017 Westminster Seminar on Parliamentary Practice and Procedure from Monday 13 November – Friday 17 November 2017 at the Houses of Parliament in London. From 2011, CPA UK's series of capacity building Westminster Workshops have explored the role of parliamentarians and parliamentary Public Accounts Committees (PACs) in financial oversight, providing practical training and knowledge to Commonwealth PACs. CPA UK will host the 2017 Westminster Workshop for Chairs and Members of Public Accounts Committees from 4 - 6 December 2017, developed and delivered in partnership with the UK Public Accounts Committee. The skills based Workshop will take place over three days, offering practical, interactive sessions to build the capacity of participating Chairs.
