Strengthening Parliamentary Oversight Workshops

22 February 2027 - 26 February 2027

Venue: Kampala, Uganda

CPA UK, in partnership with the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, the Parliament of Uganda and the British High Commission Kampala, are open to applications from Members of the House of Commons and House of Lords to participate in one of two concurrent workshops in Uganda, w/c 22 February 2027.

The two workshops form part of a three-year programme to strengthen the Parliament of Uganda’s oversight functions and will focus on:

  • Climate-responsive oversight with members of the Uganda Parliamentary Forum on Climate Change, covering climate governance, climate finance, climate budgeting and oversight.
  • Gender-responsive oversight with members of the Uganda Women Parliamentary Association (UWOPA), focusing on gender equality commitments, gender-responsive public expenditure, and parliamentary scrutiny.

The workshops will run concurrently, but there may be some shared sessions and networking opportunities. Applications are particularly welcomed from Members with experience or interest in climate change scrutiny, women’s mentorship, and / or public financial scrutiny, including climate- and gender-responsive budgeting/scrutiny. Participation in the gender-focused workshop is not restricted to women.

As the programme is funded by the British High Commission in Kampala, it is subject to FCDO travel rules, and flights to Uganda will therefore be restricted to economy class.

To apply, please complete this form by Friday 30 October. Please contact Bethan Thomas (thomasb@parliament.uk) for further information.
