Lunchtime Conversation: The Commonwealth Games

16 April 2026

Venue: CPA Room, Westminster

Join us for our next Lunchtime Conversation.

It's on Thursday 16th April in the CPA Room in Westminster Hall.

We're looking at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The count down has begun. It starts on 23rd July.

3,000 athletes from 74 nations and territories will be there and it will have the largest para-sport programme in Commonwealth history.

Organisers say they’re “pioneering a leaner, more sustainable model for major events.”

Glasgow took over the Games from the Australian state of Victoria 2 years ago.

So how did they do it in such a short space of time. How will it be different from previous years? And how will it influence Amdavad in India which is hosting the Games in 2030.

Our expert panel includes:

  • Martin Reynolds, Deputy CEO Commonwealth Sport
  • Louisa Mahon, Chief Marketing officer of the Glasgow 2026 Organising Company
  • Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson
  • Patricia Fergurson MP
