Commonwealth Parliamentary Association UK Branch Annual General Meeting and Executive Committee Election
The CPA UK AGM will be held at 1530 on Wednesday 16 October in the CPA UK Room, Westminster Hall.
The CPA UK’s Co-President, Mr Speaker, Rt Hon. Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP will chair the meeting.
At this AGM a new 20-member Executive Committee to steer the CPA UK for the duration of this parliament will be elected.
As the Executive Committee represents the make-up and funding proportions of the two Houses the following slots will be available:
- House of Commons: 9 Labour members, 3 Conservative members, 1 Liberal Democrat member and 1 other member.
- House of Lords: 2 Labour peers, 2 Conservative peers, 1 Cross Bench peer and 1 Other peer.
Every member of the Branch shall be eligible for election to the Executive Committee on the nomination of a single proposer who shall give written notice of the nomination together with the nominee’s consent, to the Secretary seven clear days prior to the Annual General Meeting.

All Members are eligible to vote for any candidate and can cast up to 20 votes. Voting will be open from 1230-1630 – in the CPA Room, Westminster Hall – on Wednesday 16 October.
Once the Committee has been elected, its first meeting will be held from 1700-1800 on Tuesday 22 October at which the Committee will elect office holders to include: a Chair (Lab), Treasurer (Con) and three Vice-Chairs. The Committee will also choose the UK’s representative on the CPA international Executive Committee.
Committee members are trustees of the charity and directors of the Limited Company limited by guarantee, which is CPA UK’s operating model. Members of the House of Commons should declare these interests upon election.
