From 9-13 March 2026, CPA UK held its annual flagship event, the Westminster Seminar on Effective Parliaments. Around 70 delegates from across the Commonwealth were in attendance.

This Seminar is aimed at parliamentarians and parliamentary officials/clerks who are relatively new to their role.

A range of sessions were delivered, including:

• the role of parliamentarians and parliamentary officials/clerks
• ethics and standards
• engagement with the media
• diversity and inclusion.

Sessions provided space for participatory and interactive exchanges, where rigorous discussion takes place on parliamentary democracy, practice, and procedure, as well as the various ways parliaments work across the Commonwealth.
