Falkland Islands EOM 2025 Final Report

Published 05 March 2026

The full report into the 2025 Falkland Islands General Election has been published today (05 March 2026).

The report has been written by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association British Islands and Mediterranean Region (CPA BIMR) Election Observation Mission.

The report contains 10 recommendations for the Falkland Islands, centred around strengthening the democratic processes.

The report builds on the preliminary statement released shortly after polling day, which described the election as a calm and well-administered process.

While the full report contains positive findings, it also provides detailed analysis and constructive recommendations to strengthen future electoral processes.

It highlights that while the Election administration was widely praised, women remain underrepresented in elected office. Eligibility rules remain restrictive and some may not fully align with international standards.

The report also notes that procedures were followed consistently, secrecy was respected and staff supported elderly and infirm voters with care, with a high election turnout at 81 percent in Stanley and 90 percent in Camp.

Other sections review the electoral system, political participation of underrepresented groups, media environment and postal and mobile voting.

The Mission expresses its sincere thanks to all those who met with us and openly shared their perspectives.
