Election Observers arrive in Jersey

A team of independent election observers have arrived in Jersey ahead of the general election on Sunday 7 June. The Observers will assess the election against international standards, commitments and obligations, as well as domestic laws. This is the third election that international observers have been invited to. Previous Missions were in 2018 and 2022.
In the run up to polling day, the Observers will meet election officials, candidates and local groups to get an insight into the electoral process and Jersey’s specific context. If anyone wishes to share their experience of the election, they can contact the Mission on: cpabimr@parliament.uk.
The Election Observation Mission (EOM) said observers would meet with officials, candidates and local groups to "get an insight into the electoral process and Jersey's specific context".
Head of mission Gary Clueit said: "Election observation is a vital part of strengthening democratic processes, and our mission will focus on assessing the election against established international standards.
"We look forward to engaging with stakeholders across Jersey and supporting transparency, accountability, and public confidence in the electoral process."
A preliminary statement from the EOM is due to be available on 8 June, the final report will be released in the months following.
