CPA UK is hosting a series of virtual workshops aimed at equipping parliamentarians and clerks with the skills to negotiate and scrutinise trade agreements.
Discussions will centre around the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), a multi-national free trade agreement which the UK applied to join in February 2021.
Each workshop will focus on the following aspect:
14 June – The UK’s application to CPTPP: Exploring the opportunities of multilateral trade agreements
17 June - Scrutinising Trade Agreements
21 June - Negotiating Trade Agreements
28 June -
Part 1: CPTPP and Agriculture
Part 2: CPTPP and Creative Industries
Delegates will have the opportunity to speak to experienced politicians and experts from across the Commonwealth to discuss effective parliamentary oversight of trade deals and ask questions regarding CPTPP.
