Virtual Programme with the Parliament of Lesotho: Challenges and Solutions in Parliamentary Procedure

26 October 2020 - 28 October 2020

Venue: Online

CPA UK, in collaboration with the National Assembly and the Senate of the Parliament of Lesotho, will host a virtual programme on shared challenges and solutions in parliamentary procedure from 26-28 October 2020 TBC. A series of online sessions will connect parliamentarians, clerks, and parliamentary staff from the UK and Sierra Leone to share experiences and good practice related to both Parliaments’ new ways of working. Topics will include committee work and new responsibilities for committee chairs, approaches to ensure continued parliamentary scrutiny, women’s representation, and parliamentary administration and communications. The programme forms part of a new longer-term relationship between CPA UK and the Parliament of Lesotho which will be formalised as a Parliamentary Partnership Programme (PPP) in due course. The PPP will facilitate multiple remote and in-person capacity-building activities such as workshops and study visits to support Lesotho’s wider parliamentary reform process, particularly those related to the scrutiny of security sector reform (SSR).
