Clerks' Training Programme with the Parliament of Lesotho

08 July 2021 - 09 July 2021

Venue: Remote / Virtual

CPA UK in collaboration with the Parliament of Lesotho is organising remote training sessions for clerks and parliamentary staff on report writing and research skills on Thursday 8 and Friday 9 July 13:00-16:00 BST.

The aim is to explore current practice, compare approaches in both parliaments, and identify practical steps to strengthening outputs and accessibility.

Two sessions on report writing will focus on the use of structure, tone and language to make reports impactful, and consider how internal timing and deadlines ensures an efficient process from draft to publication. Two sessions on research skills will explore identifying sources, assessing reliability of sources, selecting the right format for the right audience, maintaining reference documents, and other recommendations for providing an effective service.

CPA UK would like to invite clerks, committee specialists, researchers and library staff from both Houses or the devolved legislatures to join sessions as expert speakers. If you are interested or would like more information, please contact Felicity Herrmann at herrmannf@parliament.uk
