African Regional Trade and Security Workshop: Effective parliamentary scrutiny, gender sensitivity, and complexity

23 January 2022 - 27 January 2022

Venue: Parliament of Ghana

CPA UK will host a regional workshop with African Commonwealth parliaments from 23-26 January 2022. The event will be held in partnership with the Parliament of Ghana in Accra, and will be followed by a short diplomatic programme on 27 January 2022.

The workshop will be an opportunity for UK and African parliamentarians to explore how parliaments address trade, gender, and security issues when unexpected external events occur, and to consider the impact of these events on the effectiveness of democratic institutions.

CPA UK is seeking expressions of interest from members of both Houses to join the UK delegation; committee experience and/or topical expertise in trade or security issues are desirable. A total of four members will be selected. Please note this programme has not been confirmed and dates are subject to change.
