2020 Westminster Seminar: Preparing Parliamentarians for a Changing World

23 November 2020 - 25 November 2020

Venue: Online

The annual Westminster Seminar: CPA UK’s flagship capacity development programme, now in its 69th edition.

Each year, the programme provides a unique platform for participants to network and engage with counterparts; exploring approaches to parliamentary democracy, practice and procedure in the context of parliamentary systems from across the Commonwealth, drawing comparisons between different legislatures. The programme draws on the perspectives of contributors and participants to stimulate discussion and learning on the role of parliamentarians and clerks.

This year’s theme was Preparing Parliamentarians for a Changing World reflects what is occurring across the globe in 2020. A global pandemic and continued protests for democracy, equality and security have strengthened the case for parliamentarians to be prepared for change and unpredictability.

Participants had an unrivalled opportunity to share their knowledge and experiences with others and consider the challenges they face in their own work. CPA UK hopes that this programme will have a lasting impact on all those that attend.
