The Gambia - Legislative Scrutiny Workshop

02 October 2019 - 04 October 2019

Venue: National Assembly of The Gambia

2-4 October 2019

(ex-UK 29 September - 5 October TBC)

From 2-4 October CPA UK will facilitate a Legislative Scrutiny Workshop for Members and Clerks of the National Assembly of the Gambia in Banjul. The programme will focus on the role of National Assembly Members (NAMs) and parliamentary committees in providing pre-legislative scrutiny, and also consider relevant changes to this process introduced in the Assembly’s new Standing Orders expected to be adopted later in 2019.

CPA UK is seeking up to two parliamentarians to join the delegation. To apply, please complete the online form below by COB Monday 10 June. For further information, please contact Felicity Herrmann at herrmannf@parliament.uk or ext. 0322.

The Legislative Scrutiny Workshop is part of a two-year programme of engagement agreed by the National Assembly of the Gambia, the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) and CPA UK. It follows a workshop on the new Standing Orders in April 2019, a staff training programme in May 2018, multiple exchanges between UK and Gambian Clerks and researchers, and a review of the Standing Orders.
