The 9th Commonwealth Youth Parliament (9CYP), will be held in the British Virgin Islands from 8-12 October 2017.
The International Commonwealth Youth Parliament is an annual CPA event held in a different Commonwealth Region each year. It sees the participation of a maximum of 66 young people from around the Commonwealth. The 9CYP forms part of the CPA’s promotion of the Commonwealth and the concept of parliamentary democracy to young people.
The International Youth Parliament is an opportunity for Commonwealth Young People to experience aspects of Parliamentary Democracy and provides a platform for them to establish links with like-minded peers. Formal parliamentary practice adapted from several Commonwealth countries will be followed and the proceedings will be observed by experienced parliamentary officials.
The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association UK (CPA UK) will nominate one young person to participate in 9CYP. Economy travel to the event will be sponsored by CPA UK.
Participants in the Youth Parliament should:
• be in the age range 18-29 years (at the time of the event)
• be a citizen of a Commonwealth country
• be confident and articulate enough to take an active role in the Youth Parliament
• have an interest in the Commonwealth and political affairs

The deadline for application is 1700 on Wednesday 19 July. Interviews will take place the week commencing 24 July.
